Paddington to Camley Street Natural Park
This winter walk will start at Paddington Station, following the Grand Union Canal to Little Venice, where you will come across Brownings Island dotted with geese, ducks and gulls enjoying their secluded oasis!
Crossing over to follow Regents Canal around Regents Park, handsome buildings line the waters, down to the vibrant Camden Lock, where you can enjoy graffiti-covered bridges down to Coal Drops Yard, where you arrive at London Wildlife Trust's most central reserve, Camley Street Natural Park.
Start point: Paddington Station, W2
End point: Morden Hall Park, N1C 4PW
Length/time: 1,5 hours, 2 miles
Accessibility: Parts of the walk may not be accessible as there are stairs and steps to navigate.
Recommended footwear: Comfortable shoes but wellies/walking boots not necessary, as the route is predominantly paved paths.
Dogs: Please note that the final section of this walk includes an optional visit to Camley Street Natural Park, where we have an assistance dogs only policy.

Walk Route
Directions: Paddington Station to Camley Street Natural Park
Section 1: Paddington Station to Little Venice
Start at Paddington Station:
- Exit the main entrance and turn left onto Praed Street.
- Walk for about 5 minutes until you reach Paddington Quay Post Office on the left.
- Turn left here to reach the start of Paddington Basin.
Explore Paddington Basin:
- Walk along the canal and turn right across the first small bridge (The Fan Bridge).
- Turn immediately left to continue along the edge of the water.
Toward Little Venice:
- Walk straight, rounding a corner to reach The Point Footbridge.
- Cross the footbridge and turn right on the other side to continue along the canal.
- Follow the canal, passing under a large bridge and another footbridge.
- Continue under the bridge as the water opens into Little Venice.
Section 2: Little Venice to Regent’s Canal Towpath
Cross the Blue Bridge:
- Keep along the path by Little Venice until you reach a blue bridge.
- Cross the bridge and turn right to follow Regent’s Canal.
Onto Blomfield Road:
- Continue along the canal, passing under a bridge, then reach a set of steps.
- Go up the steps, turn right, and follow the pavement along Blomfield Road for about 5 minutes.
Toward Aberdeen Place:
- The pavement slopes here up towards traffic lights, at the traffic lights, cross the road and continue onto Aberdeen Place.
- Walk along Aberdeen Place for another 5 minutes, passing over North Wick Tier.
- When Aberdeen Place curves left into Cunningham Place, cross at the corner to find a smaller path off the pavement.
Return to Regent’s Canal Towpath:
- Follow the path, which turns left to a set of double steps leading back down to Regent’s Canal Towpath.
Section 3: Regent’s Canal Towpath to Camden Lock Market
Follow the Towpath:
- Continue along the towpath, after about 5 minutes you will pass through Lisson Grove Moorings (please note that public access to this section is between 7:30am-5pm on weekdays and 9am-4pm on weekends. on weekends).
- Continue along the towpath for approximately 35 minutes.
Arrive at Camden Lock Market:
- Turn left to pass through the market (food/drinks and toilets can be found here)
- Keep right around the edge of the water and turn left to return to Regent’s Canal Towpath.
Section 4: Camden Lock Market to Camley Street Natural Park
Continue Along Regent’s Canal:
- Follow the towpath for another 20 minutes until you reach the large gas holders.
- At the last gas holder, take the path that veers up from the towpath to the left.
- Keep right until you reach Somers Town Bridge.
- Cross the bridge and turn immediately left.
Arrive at Camley Street Natural Park:
- Walk straight to the gates of Camley Street Natural Park and enter to explore the nature reserve and visit the café for food/drinks/toilets. Please note opening times for Camley Street Natural Park are: 10am – 4pm from October – March.
