Fantastic Fungi at Walthamstow Wetlands
Walthamstow Wetlands,
Walthamstow Wetlands, 2 Forest Road , Walthamstow, London, N17 9NHAbout the event
Fungi are a diverse and fascinating kingdom with 15,000 species found in the UK alone! They come in all colours, shapes and sizes, from tiny microscopic yeasts and moulds to those that produce large fruiting bodies, like the aptly named Giant Puffball.
Join Rianna, Visitor Engagement Ranger on a gentle walk around Walthamstow Wetlands where we will learn about the lifecycle and ecology of fungi and identify some of the species that can be found at this time of year.
Meet for the walk at the Engine House Visitor Centre. Please dress for the weather and note, some paths are uneven, so walking shoes/boots are recommended. This walk is aimed at people aged 18+
This is a free walk but donations to London Wildlife Trust are welcome. All profits are invested into London Wildlife Trust’s conservation and education work and the care of its nature reserves.
If you have any questions please contact the Visitor Engagement Team verangers@wildlondon.org.uk
*Please note this is not a foraging walk and we will not be harvesting mushrooms to eat*
