About the event

Despite 55% of the worlds population living in urban spaces, a figure expected to increase to 68% by 2050, urban voices are often left out conversations around wildlife conservation. Since the majority of the global population live in cities, it's important that urban communities feel connected to nature and are inspired to act on its behalf.

In this introduction to urban wildlife, we will be taking things right back to the basics. What is urban wildlife? Why is it important? And how do urban communities play a vital role in improving the future of our planet?

This workshop will be led by our Visitor Engagement Ranger Lira and will consist of a 30-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session and a guided walk around the wetlands.

Please note this workshop is for young people aged between 16-30. We particularly welcome young people who:

• Are from global majority backgrounds (Black, Asian or minority ethnicity)

• Are living in economically deprived areas in London

• Have beginner's knowledge of environmental topics

Further information will be sent out prior to the event.
