London Wildlife Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of David Mooney as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st October 2023.

David joined the Trust in 2007 as an Education, Wildlife and Outreach Officer in Hackney. He was instrumental in the development and delivery of Woodberry and Walthamstow Wetlands. Most recently as Director of Development, David has steered the Trust’s consultancy, marketing, fundraising, and developed large-scale natural heritage and habitat restoration projects.

“I am a mix of excited and humbled,” said David. “I truly love London Wildlife Trust and have done since the day I joined. I have huge respect for our wonderful team who work so hard for nature recovery and to achieve our vision for a London alive with nature, where everyone can experience and enjoy wildlife. I look forward to leading this great organisation as we accelerate our impact into a nature-rich future."

David replaces Gordon Scorer, who has served as CEO since 2015. Gordon’s leadership has been critical to the current success of the Trust, expertly guiding the organisation through a period of growth. He leaves the Trust in a strong position, ready for David to take the reins in further accelerating development and impact.

Commenting on the appointment, Rufus Radcliffe Chair of Trustees said “Myself and the Board of Trustees are excited for another great chapter at London Wildlife Trust under David’s leadership. His commitment and vision align completely with the Trust’s values and long-term goals. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the team for their continued dedication and hard work.”
