Wild Life Drawing Easter Special: Guinea Pigs with Alice Bowsher
Camley Street Natural Park,
12 Camley Street, London, N1C 4PWAbout the event
There’s something about these petite pigs, isn’t there? What they lack in size, they more than make up for in personality, and hairstyles. They’re known for their complex vocalisations; from wheeking to squeaking, and, of course, the iconic rumble. They’re highly social creatures and are much more intelligent than they’re often regarded. Don’t underestimate the little guy!
It’s been a while since we had a class all about charismatic cavies, so we thought we would make it extra special. We are delighted to announce that we will be joined by illustrator and avid GP fan Alice Bowsher, who will be sharing her fantastic sketching skills with us. Please see the best greetings card ever designed as proof of her guinea pig devotion. Our miniature models have all been rescued and will be trotting over from their happy forever home at Spitalfields City Farm to show us their best poses, and farm manager Jenny will teach us all about the species.
All abilities are very welcome to take part, so feel free to join us even if you haven’t drawn in years. We will provide everything you need to get sketching- drawing boards, paper and a range of materials- but you’re welcome to bring along your own kit if you’d like to. We'll have plenty of ink and brushes available for those keen to test out their guinea pig portraits Alice Bowsher style!
Here at Wild Life Drawing, we are a small team dedicated to animal welfare. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans.£10 from each ticket will be donated to Spitalfields City Farm – a charity in its own right – and help to sustain its upkeep and provide happy homes for a whole variety of rescue animals! The farm also functions as an outdoor classroom and a source of joy for local schools and groups with learning difficulties, as well as working to conserve rare breeds of livestock.
