About the event

A quiet morning session exploring the reserve and the wildlife found here, for families with a member with any additional needs and/or a disability. Activities will include using nets to look at animals found in the pond, looking under logs to see what minibeasts we can find plus additional sensory activities.

Meet at the outdoor classroom area beside the Engine House.

This session will be led by Dhush (he/him) from our Learning & Engagement Team.

Sessions run every 4 weeks, one Sunday per month, please book a place via Eventbrite. One ticket per family of up to 3 children.

Sessions are aimed at children of all ages and parents/carers together. There will be one member of staff present at the session. All children must be accompanied throughout the session by a responsible adult.

This is a free event, but donations are welcome. All profits are invested into London Wildlife Trust’s conservation and education work and the care of its nature reserves.

Dogs

Assistance dogs only

Guide dogs only. Please be advised that trained assistance dogs on duty are welcome, but in order to protect the sensitive habitat and drinking water supply, we cannot allow other dogs or pets of any kind on-site, as the wildlife may become distressed.

Mobility

The area around the new visitor centre and main path down to the pond dipping platform has accessible surfaces, whilst other footpaths around the site are surfaced in woodchip.

The visitor centre, shop and café is fully accessible, including an accessible toilet. There is a quiet indoor classroom that can be used for breaks.

Walthamstow Wetlands is a large site with several entrances and gates onto main roads. Most paths along the waterside have no railing.
