About the event

Sydenham Hill Wood is the Trust's oldest nature reserve, a unique mix of new and ancient woodland in Dulwich, with remnants of Victorian gardens. The Wood has a fascinating history and forms part of the largest remaining tract of the old Great North Wood, a vast area of worked coppices and wooded commons that once stretched from Deptford to Selhurst. The walk will explore the historical management of the Wood and how and why it is managed today. It's also a chance to learn about some of the more than 200 species of trees and plants as well as fungi, insects, birds and woodland mammals.

The meeting point is at the entrance on Crescent Wood Road. The exact location can be found here: https://w3w.co/slows.resort.mile

Please wear sturdy shoes and suitable outdoor clothing. The route will include sections of steps and some uneven sections of path.
