Listening to the community

We’ve been out and about in the local area, talking to local people and getting their ideas, opinions and comments about Walthamstow Reservoirs. Community groups, primary schools, faith groups, older people, community centres and secondary schools all took part in the consultations, which saw us overwhelmed by enthusiasm and positive feedback for the potential new reserve.

The reaction has been fantastic, with many local people finding out for the first time about this beautiful green and blue oasis on their doorstep. The vast majority of participants weren't aware of what lies behind the fences and billboards along Ferry Lane, and even less had visited the reservoirs - although judging by the response, it won't take much encouragement for the local community to adopt the reservoirs as their own piece of paradise in the urban jungle.
